Huskers get prediction for talented 2026 defensive lineman

Nebraska appears to be in a good position to land a talented class of 2026 defensive lineman.

A class of 2026 three-star defensive lineman received a crystal ball commitment prediction late Wednesday night from On3’s Sean Callahan. Hunter Higgins is the 37th overall defensive lineman in the 2026 class and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Kansas per the On3 recruiting rankings.

Nebraska, the Kansas State Wildcats, and the Oklahoma Sooners appear to be the three teams involved with his recruitment. Higgins most recently visited Nebraska on September 7 and Kansas State on October 26. He visited Oklahoma on July 25.

Higgins is off to a strong start for Maize South High School this year. According to MaxPreps statistics, he has recorded 43 total tackles and 11 sacks in eight games.

The Huskers have placed an emphasis on the defensive line position for 2025 and appear to be zeroing in on the defensive end position as well. Higgins would be a solid pick for a unit that will have to replace some key pieces soon.
