The No. 4 Nebraska volleyball team continued its home stretch by welcoming Long Beach State to Lincoln. The Huskers, however, also welcomed back former Husker assistant coach Tyler Hildebrand, who is in his second year as head coach of the Beach. But the welcome was capped by Nebraska’s sweep of their opponent (25-18, 25-8, 25-21).
The Huskers dominated throughout the,e match finishing with 21 more kills than LBS. The second set saw Nebraska win by a score of 25-8. This is the second straight match the Huskers held a team to single digits in a set.
Once again, all the newcomers led the charge for Nebraska in the win. Freshman Harper Murray, freshman Andi Ja,ckson and Florida transfer Merritt Beason combined for 27 kills off 50 attacks. Freshman Bergen Reilly also delivered another big night, finishing the match with team highs in set assists (32) and digs (8).
The Huskers improved to 7-0 on the season with the win. Their next match will see them travel west to face off against No. 5 Stanford. The match is set for 8 p.m. on Tuesday and can be viewed on ESPN.
