The Nebraska soccer team continued its conference portion of the 2023 season following a 1-1 tie to Wisconsin last Friday. The Huskers traveled out to Columbus, Ohio to face off against Ohio State. Nebraska took down the Buckeyes in a close game, coming away with a 2-1 win.
Sarah Weber led the Huskers to the win, scoring both goals, one coming mere minutes after Ohio State tied the match. She also led the team with 10 shots in the match. This helped Nebraska overwhelm the Buckeyes, outshooting them 29-13.
Weber’s first goal came nearly halfway through the first half, putting in a crossing pass from Abbey Schwarz, who stole the ball to set Nebraska up. Ohio State responded late into the second half, tying the game off the foot of senior Emma Sears. Weber quickly broke the tie minutes later, scoring off another assist from Schwarz and Florence Belzile.
The team is now 7-1-2 on the season and will continue traveling east for the weekend. The Huskers will square off against No. 4 Penn State on Sunday. The match is set for noon and can be viewed on B1G+.
