A Nebraska football commitment has been named a nominee for a prestigious South Florida award. Jacory Barney Jr. has been nominated for the CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy.
Barney is a wide receiver for Palmetto High School out of Miami, Florida. He announced his commitment to the Cornhuskers back in July.
The CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy “recognizes the top high school player in any position and any school in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties who has positive character, leadership and meets all team standards for academics, sportsmanship, and conduct.”
Andrew Ivins of 247Sports had good things to say after scouting Barney Jr. in person.
A quick-twitched athlete that just makes plays. Not a ton of context from a verified data standpoint, but has thrived under the lights in Miami-Dade and has flashed during multiple in-person evaluations. Might be a bit slender at this stage, but has some growth potential.
He is listed at 6-0, 165 pounds, and isn’t the first Miami Palmetto player to be connected to Nebraska. Defensive backs coach Evan Cooper also attended Miami Palmetto.
The nominating process for the Nat Moore Trophy will close on Nov. 13.
