Husker legacy recruit commits to Nebraska

A Husker legacy recruit has made a commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

A Husker legacy recruit has made a commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Caleb Benning is a three-star athlete out of Omaha Westside High School.

The class of 2024 prospect is the son of former Nebraska I-back Damon Benning. The elder Benning played for the Cornhuskers from 1993-96, running for 1,562 yards and 20 touchdowns in 42 games.

Benning told 247Sports that a big part of his commitment has been the constant communication from the coaching staff.

“This coaching staff has really shown they want me. There’s plenty of perks with staying close to home and being a legacy, obviously, but this coaching staff is something I’m really excited about with what they have going.”

With the most recent commitment, the Cornhuskers class of 2024 is now ranked 25th by all three major recruiting services (247Sports, On3, Rivals). Find social media reactions to the commitment below.
