Hubert Davis speaks on incoming players for 2023-24

UNC basketball coach Hubert Davis gives insight into the five new players joining the program this fall.

A season that started with high praise ended in disarray, with the transfer portal feeling like an added insult. Despite the forgettable season and talent lost in the portal [autotag]Hubert Davis[/autotag] and staff still were able to muster up some excitement for next season with four transfers and the reclassification of five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau.

The four incoming transfers are Harrison Ingram, Cormac Ryan, Jae’Lyn Withers, and Paxson Wojcik, who contributed to more than 3,700 minutes of collegiate play in the 2022-2023 season.

It’s not certain which of the four transfers will crack the starting lineup. However, playing time in the rotation should be on the table especially accounting for the key players gone and negative feedback on the tight rotations last year.

Cadeau on the other hand, could be looked at as a day one starter. The five-star point is the ideal ball handler next to RJ Davis, allowing for a more flowing offense from what took place last season.

In a press release Wednesday evening, Davis gave his thoughts about each player and what he feels they bring to UNC.
