Hubert Davis prepares UNC for a physical, tough Clemson team

Hubert Davis shared high praise for No. 16 Clemson ahead of Saturday’s game, expressing his excitement for the matchup during Friday’s presser.

The North Carolina men’s basketball program will hit the road Saturday to take on the Clemson Tigers.

UNC won its last game out, passing the Pitt test, by beating the Panthers in a gritty 70-57 win. Clemson presents a different type of test, as a team that had blasted out the gates with an 11-1 record to claim the No. 16 spot in the recent Associated Press Poll. However, the Tigers got their second loss Wednesday against Miami, giving them an extra battery in their back to beat UNC Saturday.

Clemson will be the fifth team UNC faces this season ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. Before Saturday’s game, Hubert Davis met with the media to discuss what Clemson does well.

“A typical Clemson team, very physical, great defensively, they do an outstanding job of protecting the paint, rebounding, make it hard coming off screens…On the offensive end, they have tremendous versatility, they got Hall (PJ Hall) down low, they got other bigs that do a great job of sealing and posting up…Having guys like Girard (Joseph Girard III) that can just shoot it…We are excited about the challenge of playing them and playing them on their home floor, we are excited about the opportunity to compete against them.
