Spencer Rattler cruised, Marvin Mims excelled and the defense came to play as Oklahoma had no problem putting away conference foe TCU on Saturday, winning decisively 33-14.
Offensively, the passing game appeared much improved. Rattler connected with his receivers on deep balls throughout. The Sooners averaged 15.1 yards per attempt for the best passing performance they’ve had all year.
As far as running the ball, baby steps are the key: 3.7 yards per carry is a slight bump, but still not what you expect from this offensive line. Run-blocking improvement appears the primary focus for the offense from here on out.
The defense surrendered only a single touchdown until the waning minutes. Its stats of 7.9 yards per attempt and 3.0 yards per carry allowed are wonderful marks. Alex Grinch can hang his hat on this performance from his group.

Rattler is 11 of 19 for 308 yards with two TDs. That's venomous.

The 61-yard catch by @marvindmims was his 6th TD reception, upping his @OU_Football record for most by a freshman through his first 5 games. Record entering today was 4 by Ryan Broyles and CeeDee Lamb (and Mims' 4 thru 4 games). Thanks to @MBrooks02 for the research. #Sooners

Really good team win by @OU_Football … Riley’s game-plan was really good. Defense fantastic.

#Sooners 33, TCU 14 – final.
Rattler, Mims, Pledger big days on offense. But story, to me, was the defense. Set tone early, carried day in second half.#OU (3-2, 2-2) at Texas Tech next week (I'll be there).

Rattler now has pass completions of 50 yards, 44 yards and 43 yards. We're barely a quarter into this game.

OU leads TCU 27-7. Offense is finding its groove, defense has been dominant.

Mims is your story of the game. Rattler has over 300 yards on just 13 completions and 22 attempts. Wease stepped up big time at the beginning of the 2nd half, run game took care of the rest with the mixed-in shots from Mims.
