Fresh off a physical opening-round win over Purple Reign (Kansas State alumni), Team Colorado will battle the AfterShocks (Wichita State alumni) on their home court in the second round of The Basketball Tournament on Monday evening.
No. 5 seed Team Colorado, led by CU men’s basketball assistant coach Zach Ruebesam, received strong performances from D’Shawn Schwartz (21 points), Michael Holyfield (10 points), Jaizec Lottie (10 points) and Andre Roberson (nine points, nine rebounds) in its 71-67 victory over Purple Reign on Saturday.
The top-seeded AfterShocks beat Midtown Prestige, 86-71, in the first round with Markis McDuffie scoring a team-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Caleb Walker added 12 off the bench and former NBA player Jeremiah Martin chipped in 11 while recording three steals.
TBT is a 64-team single-elimination tournament that awards $1 million to the winning team.
