Well, the roller coaster that is the 2022 Carolina Panthers season is coming to a stop. But before we exit the wild ride, there’s one more loop to make.
Here’s how to watch the season finale against the New Orleans Saints.

History
The history is a tight one between the Panthers and Saints, with the latter holding a 29-27 edge in wins. That’s been fueled by a largely dominant run of recent success, one in which New Orleans has taken nine of the last 12 matchups.
But it’s currently Carolina who has the latest laugh, thanks to a 22-14 triumph back in Week 3. In what would be Matt Rhule’s final victory as head coach, the Panthers forced three turnovers and got their first jolt of wideout Laviska Shenault Jr.—who electrified the offense with a 67-yard touchdown on his first catch with the team.
What to watch for
Unfortunately for the Panthers, last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers eliminated them from playoff contention. So this contest won’t mean anything in terms of the 2022 campaign.
But it should mean something, most notably, to interim head coach Steve Wilks and quarterback Sam Darnold. Can Darnold, who’s coming off tying a career-high 341 passing yards and three touchdowns, keep on impressing as he heads into free agency? And can Wilks add another strong outing to his résumé as he continues his case for the head-coaching gig in 2023?
