Heading into the Orlando bubble, there were many that felt that the Memphis Grizzlies were given a raw deal. Overachieving all season long, the Grizzlies suddenly found themselves staring at the prospect of having to “earn” their way into the playoffs by defeating the ninth-seeded team in the Western Conference if they finished within four games of them in the standings.
After beginning bubble play 0-4, the Grizzlies now find themselves just 0.5 games ahead of the ninth-seeded Portland Trail Blazers and two games ahead of the 10th-seeded Phoenix Suns.
In other words, the Grizzlies need a win in the most desperate way. They’ll probably give the Thunder a good shot.
Matchups between the two this season
The Thunder and Grizzlies split their first two meetings this season, with each team earning a win. Oklahoma City took the first contest by a final score of 126-122 back on Dec. 19, while the Grizzlies avenged the loss a week later on Dec. 26 in a 110-97 victory.
Injury Report
The Thunder will be without Mike Muscala (concussion protocol), Dennis Schroder (personal reasons) and Terrance Ferguson (lower leg injury).
The Grizzlies will be Jaren Jackson Jr., who was lost for the season after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee on Tuesday. Tyus Jones (knee) and Justise Winslow (hip) will also miss the contest.
