How to watch NASCAR stars face off in iRacing on Sunday

All you need to know about the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series.

The NASCAR season, like every other major sports season, has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis – but many of NASCAR’s best drivers will still be dueling on the track from the comfort of their own homes on iRacing this Sunday.

In response to the season postponement, iRacing and NASCAR have launched the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, and the inaugural event will be broadcast live on FS1.

The Dixie Vodka 150 will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

The race will be for 100 laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where the Cup Series was originally scheduled to race this weekend.

List of participants

The field will be loaded with drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series, along with special guests Dale Earnhardt Jr. and 2000 Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte. Active Cup Series drivers in the field include Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, William Byron, Clint Bowyer and Kyle Larson.

The main NASCAR on Fox crew of Mike Joy, Jeff Gordon and Larry McReynolds will call Sunday’s race.

Wait, are people actually going to watch a videogame?

If you’re not familiar with iRacing, and most sports fans likely aren’t, it may seem a bit ridiculous that Fox is actually broadcasting a video game. iRacing, however, is far beyond any other sports simulation on the market in terms of realism, and several professional drivers in various NASCAR series originally learned how to race using the game.

Although the participants will be using various setups, simulation gear has become so sophisticated in recent years that a driver can fairly accurately replicate exactly how it feels to be holding the steering wheel in real life. The game also looks incredible, and while you’ll definitely be able to tell you’re not watching a real-life race, listening to Mike Joy and Jeff Gordon on the call should make it fairly easy to get into the action as if it were a normal NASCAR Sunday.
