The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off of a big win at Vanderbilt, and are looking to get their season back on track after losing three of four games. They’ll face a stronger test on Saturday in the form of the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Kentucky comes into the game as the top scoring team in college basketball at nearly 90 points per game. They shoot the ball well, and lead the country in three-point field goal percentage. Their real hallmark is the speed with which they get up the floor on offense. They’re a fast-break team that loves to push it whenever possible.
Gonzaga is also a team that knows how to score. They average almost 85 points per game and will test a Wildcat defense that has struggled all season. They Bulldogs don’t typically shoot a lot of three-pointers, which helps a Kentucky perimeter defense that hasn’t been good at closing out on shooters.
This year’s Gonzaga team hasn’t been quite the same team they have had in recent years, but they’re still a good team. Kentucky will need to play a good game and the Wildcats’ big men will have to be on their game.
