New York picked up its second win of the season last weekend by beating the Giants 34-27. Sam Darnold completed 19 of 30 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown. Darnold also added 25 yards on the ground. Le’Veon Bell continued to struggle at running back with 18 carries for 34 yards and one touchdown. Demaryius Thomas led all Jets’ receivers with a career-high 84 yards, while Jamison Crowder reeled in five catches for 81 yards and a score.

While the Jets offense ranks in the bottom three in points, total yards, passing yards and rushing yards, their defense has been their strength all season. They gave up 308 yards and four passing touchdowns to Daniel Jones, but did manage to pressure him and compile six sacks. The Giants were forced to pass because they absolutely eliminated the run game. Saquon Barkley was held to just one yard on 13 carries. As a team, they have allowed opponents an average of 81.9 YPG, second-best in the NFL. Jamal Adams led the team with nine tackles and two sacks.

The Washington Redskins lone win of the season came against the Miami Dolphins in a 17-16 victory. They are 1-8 this season, including a 24-9 loss in Buffalo two weeks ago. Rookie first-round pick Dwayne Haskins threw for 144 yards and failed to record a touchdown. The team recently announced that Haskins would be the starter for the remainder of the season. Adrian Peterson has been productive in recent weeks at running back. The veteran totaled 18 carries for 108 yards, his second 100 yard game of the season. Despite an average of 96 yards in his last four games, Peterson has failed to reach the end zone. We’ll see if a bye week will spark a lackluster Redskins offense that’s only converted 22 of 91 third down plays.

It’s hard on a defense when your offense hasn’t scored for 13 straight quarters. The Redskins were able to hold Buffalo to under 300 yards of total offense (282) and had some key stops of running back Frank Gore near the end zone. Landon Collins led the team with nine tackles, while Josh Norman chipped in with seven. With two of the worst offenses in the league going head to head, defense to be the difference maker in this game.

The Jets (2-7) and Redskins (1-8) reunite in a matchup between two of the worst teams in the NFL this season. Whoever loses this game will be one step closer to the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. The Jets have won the last two games, including a 30-24 home win in 2015.
