The Washington Commanders host the Dallas Cowboys in the season finale Sunday from FedEx Field. Instead of both rivals entering this NFC East game with something on the line, only the Cowboys are playing for something.

The Commanders were eliminated from playoff contention after last week’s 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Washington had been in position for one of the NFC’s final two playoff spots dating back to mid-November.

Meanwhile, Dallas has an outside of winning the NFC East and the NFC’s No. 1 overall seed. That appears doubtful, as the Eagles shouldn’t have any problems against the Giants, who are resting some starters, having locked up the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.

As for Washington, multiple starters will miss the finale. Any player currently dealing with an injury will miss the finale. Over the past two weeks, Jonathan Allen, Kam Curl, Benjamin St-Juste, Antonio Gibson, Brian Robinson Jr. and Jamin Davis are among Washington’s key players who’ll miss the finale.

Rookie quarterback Sam Howell will make his first career start against Dallas.
