Following a disappointing loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night, the Tigers return home to conclude their regular season against the No. 25 Alabama Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge.
This ‘Bama team is one of the hardest in the country to evaluate. It has seven Quadrant 1 wins this season, including victories against Gonzaga (No. 1 in the NET Rankings), Houston (No. 3), Baylor (No. 4) and Tennessee (No. 8).
Based on that resume alone, you would think this is a Crimson Tide team heading for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. But Nate Oates’ squad also has a couple of bad Quadrant three losses on the road against Missouri and Georgia, representing the only SEC win for the latter.
Alabama got the better of the Tigers in Tuscaloosa when these teams first met on Jan. 19 in a 70-67 win. Despite 26 points from Tari Eason, his production was matched by UA’s Jaden Shackelford. Jahvon Quinerly also scored 17 coming off the bench.
Taking down the Tide in the rematch won’t be easy, but coach Will Wade’s team will have the added benefit of home-court advantage this time around.
Here’s everything you need to know for this one.
