It may be early in Big 12 conference play, but Saturday’s matchup between the No. 4 Baylor Bears and No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks is as important a matchup as it gets this season. Both teams have combined to lose just three games so far this season and Baylor comes in with an 11-game winning streak. Whoever wins this game will have a major advantage in conference play the rest of the season.

Baylor barely remembers what it is like to face the feeling of defeat, last losing to Washington on Nov. 8, which marks its only loss so far this season. The Bears (12-1, 2-0) are coming off an impressive 57-52 win over No. 22 Texas Tech on Tuesday. The team was led by guard Davion Mitchell, who had a team-high 14 points. All eight players who played in the game scored at least one bucket. The Bears are 4-0 against ranked opponents this season.
The Jayhawks have picked themselves up after a tight 56-55 loss to No. 16 Villanova on Dec. 21. Since then, Kansas (12-2, 2-0) has won three straight games, including a 60-53 win over No. 17 West Virginia last Saturday at home. Kansas destroyed Iowa State 79-53 on Wednesday for its second conference win, outscoring the Cyclones by 20 points in the first half. Devon Dotson had a team-high 20 points, while Ochai Agbaji and David McCormack each scored 16 points. The Jayhawks are 3-2 against ranked opponents this season.
