There might not be a matchup that personifies how wild and unpredictable this Premier League season has been better than Arsenal vs. Manchester City. Who would’ve thought that Manchester City would essentially fall out of the Premier League title race before the new year? That’s exactly what appears to have happened. The blue half of Manchester currently sees its side sitting a resounding 14 points behind a near perfect Liverpool after a hugely disappointing loss to the team’s biggest rival. Never say never, but it would take a minor miracle at this point for Pep Guardiola’s men to get back into contention for the league’s top crown.

The absence of Sergio Aguero has made an impact in City’s ability to score goals. Gabriel Jesus hasn’t been nearly as clinical in front of goal. Couple that ineffectiveness with the team’s already existing defensive issues and it’s spelled disaster for one of the richest and most talented clubs in the world.

On the other side of the coin, Arsenal finds themselves at the lowest point in quite some time. The team has  parted ways with manager Unai Emery and is being led by the inexperienced Freddie Ljungberg until a full-time replacement can be appointed. The Gunners did enjoy some good news in the form of a 3-1 win over West Ham on Monday. While that won’t be enough to please the demanding fans craving a return to the glory days, it’s at least something to look positively on for now.
