College basketball fever is quickly spreading now that the month of March has finally arrived with the Sun Belt — among its many men’s basketball peers — holding its conference tournament starting this week on Tuesday.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are the kings of the hill in the regular-season standings, finishing with a 16-2 mark in conference play, giving it just a one-game lead over the James Madison Dukes (15-3) in the final tally. Three other schools also finished above the .500 mark.
On the other hand, the remaining nine teams were at the even mark or below, with the Old Dominion Monarchs occupying the cellar at 3-15. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers were only slightly better with their 5-13 record in Sun Belt play.
The Sun Belt men’s basketball conference tournament tips off on Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. CT with the No. 12 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks facing No. 13 Coastal Carolina in Pensacola, Florida.
