When it comes to the NFC West, the Rams essentially had their backs against the wall in a must-win game against the Cardinals on Monday night. If they lost, the Cardinals would’ve had a 99% chance to win the division. Now, the Rams are only a game back of Arizona and at least have an outside shot to contend for the West crown.
As far as playoff berths go, the Rams have almost clinched one – something no team in the NFL has done yet. There are a few scenarios for the Rams to secure a spot in the postseason this week when they host the Seahawks, but they’ll need help from other teams to make it happen.
Below are the clinching scenarios for the Rams in Week 15.
- Rams win + MIN loss/tie + NO loss/tie
- OR Rams win + MIN loss/tie + PHI tie
- OR Rams win + NO loss/tie + PHI tie
- OR Rams tie + MIN loss + NO loss + ATL loss/tie
This week, the Vikings face the Bears on Monday night, the Saints visit the Buccaneers, the Eagles host Washington and the Falcons are on the road against the 49ers.
The Vikings and Eagles are both favored in their games, while the Saints and Falcons are underdogs. It’s unclear what the Rams-Seahawks betting line will be due to the COVID-19 issues Los Angeles is having in its building right now, but so long as Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald play, the Rams should be favored.
Regardless of what everyone else in the NFC does this week, the Rams can clinch a playoff berth simply by winning their next two games – or any two of their remaining games, for that matter.
