How much salary cap space the Panthers have after Adam Thielen signing

With the details now out on Adam Thielen’s deal and Shaq Thompson’s reworked pact, here’s how much cap space the Panthers currently have.

Not too long before the Carolina Panthers announced a Sunday night special with wide receiver Adam Thielen, we gave you a breakdown of the team’s updated salary cap space. But, uh, that’s pretty much moot now, isn’t it?

Thielen is onboard with a three-year, $25 million pact, one—similarly to the other free-agent deals the Panthers have handed out this offseason—that is pretty backloaded. The contract includes a mild $3.3 million cap number for 2023, then hits of $9.9 million in 2024 and $8.4 million in 2025.

Then, on Monday, details of linebacker Shaq Thompson’s reworked deal emerged. Instead of a $24.4 million hit for 2023, his contract calls for a softer $14 million and then $6.6 million in 2024.

And now, as we sit here at the beginning of Monday afternoon, the Panthers currently have about $23.5 million in available cap space—per Over the Cap.

Here, with Thielen joining in, are the cap hits for each of this offseason’s free-agent signings:
