Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network is one of the media’s preeminent draft analysts. Jeremiah, who co-hosts the “Move the Sticks” podcast, also spent time as a scout with the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles.
Jeremiah’s time as a scout, as well as his successful college career as a quarterback at Appalachian State, make him a favorite among NFL draft enthusiasts.
Therefore, anytime Jeremiah releases a new mock draft, it’s generally based on a combination of team needs and chatter he hears throughout the league.
This week, Jeremiah released his second mock draft of the season, and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence remains at the top, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 1 overall pick.
Jeremiah has BYU quarterback Zach Wilson going No. 2 overall to the New York Jets.
At No. 3, he has former LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase heading to the Miami Dolphins.
Jeremiah had the following to say about Chase to Miami.
I flirted with giving the Dolphins one of the top offensive linemen here, but they are desperate for difference-making speed and playmaking ability on the outside.
Chase to Miami feels like the logical destination for the former Tiger. After selecting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick one year ago, the Dolphins have two picks in the first round and should surround their quarterback with plenty of weapons.
Chase would give the Dolphins an instant No. 1 wide receiver. In LSU’s championship season in 2019, Chase caught 84 passes for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He did not play in 2020 after opting out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 NFL draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Apr. 29.
