How fair were the ‘Madden 21’ ratings for rookie SEC QBs?

LSU’s Joe Burrow was on top, to the surprise of no one.

Tommy Stevens, Mississippi State (New Orleans Saints)

Overall: 54

Speed: 81

Accuracy: 88

Agility: 83

Throw Power: 87

The verdict: Stevens entered the draft largely as an unknown, but posted some numbers that were hard to ignore at his pro day.

The former Bulldog had the best 40 time (4.49 seconds) and shuttle run (4.19 seconds) compared to quarterbacks and tight ends at the NFL scouting combine.

The overall grade of 54 seems low, and the 81 speed rating may not do Stevens’ athleticism justice either as he prepares to possibly enter a role similar to Taysom Hill with the Saints.

Stevens’ extensive injury history throughout his college career at Penn State and Mississippi State makes it difficult to tell where his ceiling is, but we should get an idea of where it is soon enough in New Orleans.
