How do Chiefs HC Andy Reid’s teams perform after the bye week?

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid has an incredible record of success after the bye week and can add to it against the #Titans in Week 9.

Extra time to prepare has been a boon for Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid since the bye week was implemented back in 1990.

Part of it has probably been the fact that the extra time has allowed players to get rested and healthy. Reid’s teams also do what they call a “self-scout” during the bye week to help address their weaknesses and fortify their strengths in every facet of the game. Reid doesn’t necessarily believe there’s any rhyme or reason to the success he’s had at the bye week, the success is notable.

Dating back to his tenure as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid has a whopping 20-3 regular season record after the bye week. His 86.9% winning percentage after the bye week is the best in NFL history. That percentage drops slightly when the postseason is factored in, but he’s still winning the vast majority of the games during which he has extra time to prepare.

Of course, the Chiefs get a challenging AFC South team in the Tennessee Titans in Week 9. They’re one of the teams that the Chiefs haven’t had much success against in during the Andy Reid era. In their seven matchups with Tennessee since 2013, the Chiefs have won only two of them.

The last win came at Arrowhead Stadium in the 2019-20 playoffs en route to Super Bowl LIV. This game will also be played at home as well, which is notable as Reid’s record off the bye when playing at home is practically flawless with 12 wins and only one loss (92.3% winning percentage).
