How did this weekend affect Duke’s tournament projection in the NCAA’s eyes?

College basketball writer Andy Katz revealed his updated 68-team field on Tuesday after a weekend with multiple top-10 losses. Where is Duke?

As of a few days ago, Duke was a No. 3 seed in the NCAA’s latest March Madness preview. After a road win over Florida State and losses from teams like Purdue, Iowa State, and Marquette, did they stay there?

College basketball writer Andy Katz doesn’t speak for the selection committee, but the NCAA expert shared his updated 68-team projection on Tuesday afternoon, and the Blue Devils did indeed remain one of his 3-seeds.

Duke finished as the third team in Katz’s South region with a first-round date against Charleston. Houston, who handed the Cyclones their Monday loss, owns the top seed in the region with Tennessee close behind as the No. 2 seed.

Duke would take on either Texas Tech or Nevada in the second round of Katz’s hypothetical bracket, assuming Charleston doesn’t pull off a stunner.

No other ACC teams finished in the West region, but three other ACC teams did make the tournament field. North Carolina was the second seed in the Midwest, with Clemson the No. 5 seed in that same region. The Virginia Cavaliers were the ninth seed in the West.
