No. 2 Boise State will look to repeat as the Mountain West Tournament champions.

As the No. 2 seed in the Mountain West Tournament, Boise State will have a first-round bye and will play on Thursday. Boise State will await the winner of No. 7 UNLV vs. No. 10 Air Force.

To reach the Mountain West Conference Championship Game, Boise State will have to win two games on Thursday and Friday. With wins in the next two games, Boise State will have a chance to win back-to-back Mountain West Championships on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Boise State pulled off a 66-60 win over San Diego State. That win helped Boise State clinch a spot as the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

In Saturday’s regular season finale against Utah State, Boise State was unable to enter the postseason on a two-game winning streak. Utah State outmatched Boise State 86-73 in Logan, Utah.

For this week’s tournament, Boise State will have to move past the most recent loss to Utah State and prepare for a potential rematch in the conference semifinals on Friday. In the Utah State loss, Chibuzo Agbo led the way for the Broncos with 18 points. Three other Broncos had double-digit scoring totals in the road loss.

Boise State’s bench had 10 points against the Aggies. If Boise State wants to win the conference tournament, the bench will need to help out the starting five.

It will be key for Boise State to not look ahead and focus on Thursday’s matchup against UNLV or Air Force. Boise State went 3-0 against UNLV and Air Force during the regular season. The success against those two programs in the regular season will help Boise State win a second-round matchup.

If Boise State takes care of business on Thursday, Friday’s semifinal matchup will be against either No. 3 Utah State, No. 6 New Mexico, or No. 11 Wyoming.

Boise State’s offense will need consistent scoring throughout the conference tournament to ensure a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
