How Cam Newton can participate and contribute, even on Reserve-COVID-19 list

Newton is still very much involved with game-planning despite his illness.

The New England Patriots had to cancel practice for a second straight day on Thursday. However, that could be a positive for quarterback Cam Newton.

Newton will be able to participate, and as Bill Belichick noted, he can and will take part in any virtual meetings as the team begins preparation for the Broncos. He will be able to join the team again once he has two negative tests within 24 hours. In addition, you also need to receive clearance from the Patriots physician  as well as the National Football League.

With Newton being allowed in meetings, that at least gives the  quarterback a chance to get ready for Denver. With New England coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, this game against Denver will be important for the Patriots to try to get back into the win column.

“Anybody that tested positive wouldn’t be allowed to be in any in-person meetings until they’re cleared medically,” Belichick said Thursday morning in a conference call. “So, that’s that. But in terms of virtual meetings, yeah. Absolutely.”

It will be interesting to see how the Patriots approach Sunday, with limited practices leading up to game week. As far as cam Newton is concerned, he won’t lack any whatsoever.
