How badly will Oregon’s offense torch Colorado’s defense?

You know Caleb Williams is licking his chops at the prospect of facing Colorado’s defense, but Oregon gets first dibs in Pac-12 play.

The USC Trojans will definitely study Colorado-Oregon game film, mostly because Colorado will be USC’s opponent on September 30. The Trojans will also get an early look at the Oregon team they will face in November, but Colorado is the team they will focus on. Colorado might be able to trip up USC — not likely, but possibly — before the Trojans face Notre Dame on October 14 and begin the “heavy lifting” portion of their schedule.

We encourage you to follow Ducks Wire and Buffaloes Wire for extensive coverage of this game, but we also wanted to bring Ducks Wire and Buffaloes Wire writers here to discuss aspects of the Oregon-Colorado contest.

One obvious plot point: How bad is the Colorado defense? Is this group about to get roasted by the Ducks?

Point-blank: Will Oregon score at least 50 in this game?

*

Don Smalley, Ducks Wire: I’ll say no. Ducks will put up 45 or so.

Zachary Neel, Ducks Wire: Oregon certainly can score 50 on Colorado, but I don’t think they will. I see the Ducks building a comfortable lead and then running the ball down the throat of the Buffs for the final two quarters.

Matt Wadleigh, Trojans and Buffaloes Wire: I believe Oregon puts up 50 points in this game but gets a comfortable lead and hits cruise control at some point. 52 is my number of points for the Ducks.

Matt Zemek, Trojans Wire: Yes. Colorado lacks the defensive line needed to do anything of note against Oregon’s quality and skill.
