The Los Angeles Rams are positioned nicely at 5-3, sitting one game back of the Seahawks in the NFC West. It’s not the record they hoped to have coming out of the first half of the season, but they’re certainly still in the mix in the NFC – even for a No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
Sunday against the Seahawks will be a huge test for this team, a game that comes with major playoff implications. A win ties the Rams at the top of the division with the Seahawks, but a loss puts them two games back.
The Cardinals also lurk at 5-3 and could also grab a tie of the lead in the West, and while this one isn’t must-win for the Rams, it will have a huge impact on their playoff chances.
According to Pro Football Focus, a win gives them an 80% chance to make the postseason. A loss drops their odds to only 59%, however. There’s still a long way to go in the regular season, but this game is huge for L.A.
Playoff leverage (via PFF) has become one of my go-to infographics each week. This is telling us that a Bears loss to the Vikings in Week 10 would effectively solidify the NFC Playoff picture, with 7 teams playing for seeding the rest of the way.https://t.co/WiEJ69WpI6 pic.twitter.com/Ps2mQUS4qa

The Rams benefit from being at home and coming off a bye, but the Seahawks feature a prolific offense that will test the Rams defense like no other group has this season.
