House of the Dead: Remake’s launch trailer is wonderfully cheesy

An arcade classic is back on the Nintendo Switch.

Not many arcades back in the day were free from House of the Dead’s pulpy light gun antics, and neither is the living room, as its remake is out on Nintendo Switch.

The oh-so appropriately titled House of the Dead: Remake does precisely what the name implies — it reimagines the classic arcade shooter for modern audiences. Gone are the days of endlessly pumping quarters into a giant machine while children run around dimly-lit rooms unsupervised.

Now, purging undead monstrosities throughout the Curian Mansion can be done on your Switch, and it’s out right now. No, really — the launch date for House of the Dead: Remake is April 7, 2022, and it’s already up on the Nintendo eShop!

Impressions on this one aren’t the best, though. IGN’s review claims the gyro aiming controls are poorly implemented, while Forbes echoed a similar sentiment. Kind of a bummer, especially since people have wanted House of the Dead on a modern console for ages.

If it’s any consolation, House of the Dead: Remake is currently 10 percent off on the eShop for $22.49. How long that discount will last is unclear, though.
