The Hornets trailed by as many as 18 points on Thursday but clawed back into the game against the Raptors before falling late, 111-108.
Charlotte led just once past the first quarter and trailed by as many as 18 points midway through the third quarter. However, a run that was sparked by the defense allowing just 12 points in the fourth quarter allowed the Hornets not only back into the game but a chance to tie it late.
After a block on the defensive end to win the ball back for Charlotte, P.J. Washington’s effort to tie the game in the waning seconds was off the mark as the Hornets fell.
Washington finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds while Terry Rozier had 22 points. Off the bench, LaMelo Ball had 14 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.
