Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier came up big in the fourth quarter as the Hornets earned a 100-97 victory in San Antonio to snap their three-game losing streak.
The Hornets got off to a quick start by opening up a double-digit lead in the first quarter. The Spurs responded with a quick run to begin the second period but Charlotte stretched the lead back out to double digits and eventually to a 55-45 lead at the break.
Gordon Hayward’s big third quarter helped the Hornets stymy a Spurs run as Charlotte managed just 19 points in the frame but still led by five entering the fourth. San Antonio took a brief lead early in the period before Terry Rozier, as he’s been accustomed to doing, closed out the game in clutch time for the Hornets.
Rozier had 24 points and went 9-of-10 at the line, including nailing a pair of crucial freebies in the closing seconds. Hayward added 27 points while Bismack Biyombo and Malik Monk had 11 apiece.
