Charlotte’s need for a big man in the offseason could see it go numerous routes, from the way the Hornets acquire a center to the type of big they prefer.
If they choose to address the need in the NBA draft, multiple bigs could be targeted, ranging from Isaiah Jackson from Kentucky to Kai Jones of Texas and many in between. One of the intriguing names was slotted to Charlotte in Bryan Kalbrosky’s mock draft on For The Win, international big Usman Garuba.
Spain’s Usman Garuba has arguably been the best international prospect in this class and now with an increased willingness to shoot the ball, he could be an excellent pick-and-roll partner for LaMelo Ball.
Last season, Garuba shot 111 3-pointers in 74 games for Real Madrid. While he shot just 31.5% from range, his willingness, as Kalbrosky noted, makes him intriguing as a prospect.
Also of note with this mock draft, with it being a 60-pick draft, the Hornets’ second-round picks were also projected. Charlotte took Michigan State wing Aaron Henry with the No. 56 pick and big Isaiah Todd from the G League with the No. 57 pick.
