Hornets fail to outlast Heat, lose by one-point in final seconds

Charlotte gave up an and-one with under 10 seconds to remaining, which was their downfall.

The Charlotte Hornets failed to get a stop late against the Heat, which gave Miami the 104-103 win in Monday’s preseason contest.

Miami’s Javonte Smart got an and-one with just 7.8 seconds left, which gave the Heat a one-point lead and ultimately the victory.

The Hornets were once again shorthanded as they were without Gordon Hayward, Mason Plumlee, and Kelly Oubre Jr. for the second straight game as well as missing Terry Rozier, who was out with an ankle sprain.

Miles Bridges led the way for the Hornets, finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

LaMelo Ball just missed out on a triple-double, finishing with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, including this nifty pass to Bridges.

Charlotte will close out their preseason schedule on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
