Hornets’ Caleb Martin scored a career-high 23 points vs. Hawks

Martin nearly doubled his previous career-high of 12 points in the loss on Monday night against the Hawks.

Charlotte Hornets rookie Caleb Martin tallied a career-high 23 points on Monday night during a double-overtime loss on the road to the Atlanta Hawks.

The undrafted forward shot 8-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range, in 36 minutes of work before fouling out in the second overtime period. Martin also added four assists, three steals and two blocked shots in the loss.

Martin nearly doubled his previous career-high of 12 points on Monday, which was set on March 3 against the San Antonio Spurs. While his shot was falling from deep, Martin was also able to get to the rim a few times.

Martin has spent the majority of the season in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm but has seen a bigger role with the Hornets recently. Since re-joining the Hornets on Feb. 8, Martin is averaging 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds on 60.7% (17-of-28) shooting from 3-point range. His 3-point percentage over that span leads all rookies.
