Homestead rumored to move out of the 2025 NASCAR playoffs

Homestead-Miami Speedway is rumored to move out of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs with a potential Championship Weekend date in 2026.

Homestead-Miami Speedway is looking to require the rights for NASCAR Championship Weekend, but it won’t be in 2025. Phoenix Raceway has already been announced as the host for Championship Weekend next year. So, what about Homestead? The race track may not even be in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi on “The Teardown,” Homestead is expected to move out of the 2025 NASCAR playoffs. This would be disappointing for Homestead, which used to host the championship through 2019. The 1.5-mile track has been mainly dominated by Chevrolet and Toyota, as Ford has one win in the last 13 races since 2011.

This doesn’t mean Homestead will be unable to host Championship Weekend. One reason behind a move could be Homestead’s desire for renovations so NASCAR is convinced to return in November. If so, it would allow Homestead to have more time. The race track is one of the best on the NASCAR calendar, so hopefully, that is the reasoning behind it.
