Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown can close the book on his excessive speeding violation from last August. According to AZFamily.com, Brown received his punishment.
He was fined $473 for his traffic violation, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of excessive speeding. However, because of his time served in jail, which was a few hours, he did not have to pay it.
Back last August, on his way to training camp at State Farm Stadium, he was cited while driving southbound on Loop 101, going 126 miles per hour in the HOV lane.
The posted speed limit is 65 miles per hour.
Did Brown receive preferential treatment as a prominent athlete?
Judge Cathy Riggs promised to treat him as he would any other first-time offender. She noted his lack of a criminal record and his work in the community.
With the book closed on this incident and with no other issues to date, it appears it was just a serious mistake due to the follies of youth and a fast car.
He is fortunate nothing happened.
Brown led the Cardinals last season with 67 receptions and had 709 yards and three touchdowns.
