Friday was a bittersweet day for game show fans like myself. The legendary Pat Sajak hosted his final episode of “Wheel of Fortune” after 41 years at the helm. I’ve been a loyal “Wheel” viewer for almost as long as I can remember, so to say a big part of my childhood has slipped away would be a big understatement. It’s going to be so strange seeing Ryan Seacrest as host from now on.
This momentous occasion got me thinking about how often Notre Dame or the city it’s in has popped up on “Wheel of Fortune”. With over 8,000 episodes of the long-running syndicated version and multiple puzzles on each one, Notre Dame has to have popped up at some point.
