Highly touted defensive tackle includes Tennessee in top five

Tennessee football recruiting update.

Tennessee took another step in the recruitment of defensive tackle Payton Page on Saturday, as Page included the Vols in his top five on a Twitter post.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound prospect included Tennessee, North Carolina, Oregon, LSU and Clemson in his final five schools.

A Greensboro, N.C. native, Page rates as a five star prospect ranked as the No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 7 overall prospect in the 2021 class on the 247 Sports Composite.

Tennessee returns nearly all of its defensive linemen for the upcoming season, and adds highly touted prospects such as Dominic Bailey and Omari Thomas in the 2020 recruiting class.

Although the Vols will benefit from a deep and experience defensive line room in 2020, they will lose contributors such as Aubrey Solomon and Emmit Gooden, who will play out their final season of eligibility.

Page will be high on Jeremy Pruitt’s staff’s list throughout his recruitment, and so far the Vols remain in the mix.
