Highlights: Former Georgia star Anthony Edwards drops 49 in Timberwolves win

Edwards went off last night. Watch these highlights.

Anthony Edwards, the 2020 No. 1 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, had a career night on Thursday.

In a 127-121 win over the San Antonio Spurs, the former Georgia star dropped 49 points in 39 minutes. He was 16/28 from the field, 6/14 from three and 11/14 from the free throw line.

To go along with his career high in points, Edwards also tallied eight assists and six rebounds.

Edwards’ previous career high going into Thursday night was 48 points, which he achieved against Golden State back in November.

It was evident that Edwards – and his teammates – wanted to reach 50 points on Thursday. In the final 66 seconds alone, Edwards attempted four three pointers – all of which were unsuccessful. Meanwhile the Spurs were creeping back into the game, bringing it within four points twice in the final ten seconds.

Following the game, Edwards talked about a layup that rolled out, which left him one point shy of reaching that goal.

“But it’s cool, as long as we won I ain’t tripping,” Edwards said. “I really don’t care. We won.”

Edwards is averaging a quiet 21.5 points this season on a Timberwolves team that is currently boasting a 46-35 record and has locked in a spot in the play-in tournament.
