The Georgia Bulldogs came into the Sugar Bowl optimistic. Despite massive flaws that caused several games to be close down the stretch, the Bulldogs won the SEC championship to secure a first-round bye. This meant they could heal up and prepare for their matchup vs. Notre Dame. Even with backup quarterback Gunner Stockton many, including Aaron Murray, still predicted Georgia to win.
Unfortunately, Notre Dame proved themselves superior, winning 23-10. It felt like the Bulldogs were a few plays away from winning the game at any given time, but Notre Dame never gave them the chance, forcing two turnovers and shutting down the UGA offense in the red zone.
For Georgia, there are many units to blame for the season-ending loss. The offensive line allowed eighteen pressures, four sacks, and two strip-sacks. The running game was ineffective and OC Mike Bobo’s play calling was questionable.
There were some bright spots on the roster. Gunner Stockton made some amazing throws. The Bulldog defensive line also generated a lot of pressure.
