The New England Patriots now have the No. 1 selection in the 2025 NFL draft following their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, along with the New York Giants’ 45-33 win over the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend.
The Patriots, Tennessee Titans and Giants all round out the top three with 3-13 records on the year.
New England moved into the top spot in large part due to their 40-7 loss against the Chargers on Saturday. Their offense was completely shut down, and Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert shredded their defense. They allowed 428 total offensive yards to the Chargers, while tallying only 181 yards of their own.
The Patriots could go multiple ways with the top overall selection. They could select playmaking wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter. Alternatively, they could focus on the trenches and draft LSU’s Will Campbell or Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.
We’ll see if they can hold onto the No. 1 pick when going head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills in the Week 18 season finale. A win in that game could potentially move them back down the draft board.
