Auburn landed quite a few big recruits on Saturday, and one of them was 2024 four-star defensive back A’Mon Lane.
Lane, an Alabama native, had been courted by a number of schools and chose Auburn due to their heavy recruitment and their status as his childhood team when he was growing up and learning about football from his grandmother. In a recent interview with Auburn Undercover’s Jason Caldwell posted by Christian Clemente on Twitter, Lane talked about his recruiting process and what eventually made him choose the Tigers as his college destination.
Here is what Lane had to say about choosing Auburn over LSU:
“That was my first in-state offer, so they’ve just been recruiting me really hard. And you know, with all that happened to coach Harsin, they backed off a little bit… coach Harsin talked to me and made me feel very special, and they told me that they wanted me to be the guy to start the class off, and I felt like that was something I needed to do.”
During the interview, Lane also mentioned that he didn’t think LSU would give him the opportunity to be the “face of the class” like Auburn would and that. Finally, Lane said that he was looking forward for the opportunity to get his High School, Moody, back to the state championship this year — mainly because it is being held in Auburn, Alabama.
