Last year, Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh got as good of a look as any program at the progress being made by Greg Schiano at Rutgers. Now in his second stint with the Scarlet Knights, a 3-6 record in the Big Ten in just his first season back with Rutgers was proof of Schiano’s magic touch.

The Rutgers head coach is a perfect fit back with the program he built up 15 years ago. The program is desperately in need of his attention to detail mixed with his undeniable Jersey swagger.

Michigan emerged from their game at Rutgers last year victorious, but it took three overtimes to get there. Harbaugh, who has his team currently at 3-0 and No. 19 in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, is aware of what Schiano has brought to Rutgers.

“Hard, tough — guys that play all out, play together, don’t make mistakes, execute, disciplined teams,” Harbaugh told reporters during his weekly press conference. All the good stuff.”

Harbaugh’s comments come via Isaiah Hole at WolverineWire.

That 48-42 triple-overtime win over Rutgers a year ago is a far cry from 2016 when Michigan cruised to a 78-0 victory over the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers is currently 3-0, coming off of two blowout wins at home and an impressive 17-7 win at Syracuse two weeks ago. The Scarlet Knights received votes in the USA TODAY poll for a third straight week.
