Here’s how LSU’s next opponent, Mississippi State, fared in Week 2

Here’s how LSU’s next opponent fared in Week 2.

LSU will begin conference play next week with a trip to Mississippi State.

While LSU put it on cruise control against Grambling, Mississippi State had its hands full with Power Five opponent Arizona.

The Bulldogs led 21-7 early in the third, but then Arizona’s offense caught fire and stormed back to force overtime.

Mississippi State held on, winning 31-24 and moving to 2-0 on the year.

MSU fought hard in this one, so there could be some advantage in that for LSU next week.

Mississippi State made it a point to run the ball, giving it to Jo’Quavious Marks 24 times for 123 yards.

The Bulldog defense struggled when it came to preventing explosive plays. According to GameOnPaper, Arizona totaled seven explosive passing plays on the night.

Mississippi State is one of the most experienced teams in the SEC, but with a first-year head coach, there are still some questions.

LSU hasn’t lost to MSU since the opener in 2020. LSU won 34-17 last year in Tiger Stadium.
