A tumultuous 2020 college football season came to a close last week when conferences played their respective championship games while other teams wrapped up their regular-season schedules with makeup games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that is all over, it is time to turn the collective attention toward the bowl game season.
After a rough finish to the season for the Florida Gators, they ultimately earned a New Year’s Six game date in the Cotton Bowl with the Oklahoma Sooners, who defeated the Iowa State Cyclones to claim the Big 12 title. UF’s losses to the LSU Tigers to end the regular season and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game killed any dreams of competing in this year’s College Football Playoff, but the postseason appearance is a cromulent consolation for a hard-fought year.
Coming into the game, Florida is ranked No. 10 by the Amway Coaches Poll while Oklahoma rides in at No. 7. So far, the betting lines predict a close matchup, with the Gators slightly favored to win by an oh-so-narrow margin.
So how do the teams match up? Here is a look below at the comparison based on national rankings, as provided by our sister site, Sooners Wire.
