The New England Patriots are expected to get two extra draft picks with the NFL officially announcing the compensatory picks of the 2023 NFL draft.
Teams are eligible to be awarded with compensatory picks when they lose a greater number of free agents than they sign or acquire from other teams. A given team can receive no more than four compensatory picks in one year.
On Thursday, it was announced the Patriots would be rewarded with the No. 135 overall pick in the fourth-round and the No. 210 in the sixth-round of the draft. Those picks were given to the Patriots for losing cornerback J.C. Jackson and offensive lineman Ted Karras.

The Patriots hope to use the extra picks to rebuild through the draft after missing the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. They clearly need help at a multitude of different positions, most notably offensive tackle, cornerback and wide receiver.
They’ll now have 10 total picks once the draft board goes live on April 27. That’s plenty of opportunities to cash in big on the pool of 2023 prospects.
