It feels like the 2021 season just ended for the Los Angeles Rams, but before you know it, players will be back on the field for OTAs and minicamp. The NFL announced dates for each team’s offseason workouts on Friday and the Rams will begin their program in just a few weeks.
Here’s the schedule of events for the Rams this spring, beginning with the first day on April 18.
- First Day: April 18
- OTA Offseason Workouts: May 23-24, May 26, May 31-June 2
- Mandatory Minicamp: June 7-9
Phase 1 of the offseason program is strictly meetings and weight-room training. No players will be on the field practicing until Phase 2.
Phase 2 includes on-field work, both individually and in groups. There will be no offense vs. defense in this phase of the offseason program and live contact is also prohibited. Offensive players can line up from offensive players, and defenders can go up against defenders, however.
In Phase 3, teams can hold 10 days of OTAs. There’s still no tackling or live contact allowed, but this phase permits teams to run 7-on-7, 9-on-9 and 11-on-11 drills on the field.
Unlike teams with new head coaches, the Rams will not hold a voluntary minicamp. And the dates of their rookie minicamp – if they have one – will be announced at a later date. Those can begin on May 16 and run for seven weeks.
