Hendon Hooker has completed 114-of-166 passes for 1,578 yards, 17 touchdowns and two interceptions in 2021.
The 6-foot-4, 218-pound senior quarterback has also totaled 416 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 101 attempts.
Entering Tennessee’s Week 10 matchup at Kentucky (6-2, 4-2 SEC), first-year Vols’ head coach Josh Heupel discussed Hooker’s play through eight games.
“Consistency in the way that he’s played throughout the course of the season, his ability to get better every single week, his efficiency at the quarterback position,” Heupel said of what is driving Hooker to have success. “For the most part, he’s taken great care of the football, been accurate on short, intermediate, and deep throws, his ability to use his feet.
“All those factors compile and give him an opportunity to have an opportunity at some point to have a career at the next level, too.”
Kickoff between Tennessee (4-4, 2-3 SEC) and Kentucky is slated for 7 p.m. EDT and will be televised by ESPN2.
