Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was named Manning Award Star of the Week by the Allstate Sugar Bowl Monday.
Hooker, a transfer from Virginia Tech, made his third start of the 2021 season and posted a stellar performance as the Volunteers defeated Missouri, 62-24, in Columbia Saturday.
Hooker, a redshirt senior and native of Greensboro, North Carolina, went 15-of-19 and amassed 225 passing yards, while throwing three touchdowns in UT’s third consecutive victory over the Tigers (2-3, 0-1 SEC).
He also rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries, spearheading a Tennessee attack that generated 677 total offensive yards.
The Vols (3-2, 1-1) rushed for 452 yards.
Hooker was also named a College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention National Performer of the Week on Sunday.
Tennessee returns to action Saturday when it hosts South Carolina at noon EDT at Neyland Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
